Often described as a social entrepreneurship project with an eye on the bottom line, AfterCollege provides student support while also achieving its corporate mission.
SAN FRANCISCO, CA – AfterCollege, the largest online career network for college students, entry-level job seekers and recent graduates, has announced their revenue-sharing and scholarship programs have enabled them to award over $412,000 to students and student associations. For eight years, the company has granted scholarship funds to students displaying academic excellence in various disciplines.
Increasing education costs, coupled with budget cuts that have stripped many student organizations of funds, remain the impetus behind AfterCollege’s commitment to helping students pursue their higher education goals. Now more than ever, students need the help of both companies and community to ease some of the financial burden that can cloud the thrill of receiving a degree.
AfterCollege also participates in revenue-sharing programs that provide funds for student activities to student groups and professional associations. AfterCollege creates and maintains customized career networks for student organizations to give their members access to relevant employment opportunities from premier companies. Through job posting fees stemming from these career networks, AfterCollege provides revenue-share to student organizations to complement their fundraising efforts.
“Our commitment to college students and recent graduates remains a top priority,” said Michael Fernald, Director of University Relations with AfterCollege. “We look forward to expanding our existing programs and developing new ones that enrich the academic experience, help students pay for their education and better prepare them for life after college.”
