In honor of Memorial Day, job board Monster.com announced it has launched a new veterans’ career portal in collaboration with Military.com, a free military and veteran online news and membership organization serving active duty personnel, reservists, guard members, retirees, veterans, family members, defense workers and those considering military careers.

In a news release Monster said the enhanced site is part of a larger commitment to better-serve veterans in the job market.

The new site features a broader application of the Military Skills Translator, a tool that helps decode military jobs into civilian equivalents, and information about upcoming Career Expos that help match veterans and employers.

Monster also touts faster page loading time and improved navigation.

Other features include a section for jobs requiring a security clearance, an engineering career center, a resume writing guide, and networking center for veterans to link up with one another to provide advice and guidance.

“Our veterans, particularly those who served in Iraq and Afghanistan are facing challenges reentering the workforce,” said Sal Iannuzzi, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Monster Worldwide. “This is why we’re harnessing our technology to help veterans determine how to market their military skills into a meaningful career and connecting them with employers. Companies can do their part by recognizing that veterans make great employees and that the best way to thank them for their service is to hire them.”
