Monster launches interview app

Job board today announced the launch of an iPhone and iPad app designed to help job seekers ace their interview.

According to AppModo, Interviews includes access to hundreds of practical advice articles, employer research tools, a map feature that provides driving directions to the interview location and a GPS function to help you find the nearest copy shop.

Users can also research prospective companies, schedule an interview leveraging existing contacts, and read over frequently asked questions.

When perusing Q&A’s, for both the statement and question users can either type notes using iPhone’s touchscreen or record audio clippings with a built-in mic.

Something called an Outfit Picker enables users to take a photo of an outfit, save it, and attach a reminder so that the job seeker won’t wear the same clothes to the follow up interview.

PCMagazine gave the app three-and-a-half stars, writing, “Interviews is ready to assist…drawing on familiar mobile technologies such as voice recording, GPS, and your phone’s camera, the app feels fresh and fun, despite its buttoned-down ambitions. iPad and Android users will have to fly solo for now, but, if you have an iPhone and a job prospect, Interviews puts career services in your pocket.”

Some negative aspects about the app, PC Mag writes, include the app’s lack of support for resumes or cover letters and that it doesn’t integrate with or Jobs for iPad.
