Work4 Labs, a social media startup with offices in San Francisco and Paris, announced today it has launched a new version of its Facebook app called Work For Us, which matches a Facebook user’s friends with jobs.
Work4 Labs says the technology is “the first to leverage Facebook’s wealth of profile data (education, interests, work history, etc.) and connections to make the job referral process as simple as sharing.”
The app works by using job-matching algorithms and Facebook’s social graph to see which friends would be the best match for certain jobs.
When users visit jobs posted via a company’s ‘Work for Us’ app, they have access to a section called “See Friends Matching this Job.”
Once authorized, the app processes Facebook and LinkedIn profile data – education, work history, interests, location, and so on – to suggest the most relevant friends for the job.
Work4 Labs developed the technology following a one-year partnership with a computer science and statistical research lab in Paris.
“By doing the hard work of matching users and jobs, our app allows Facebook users to easily distribute relevant job opportunities among the 30 billion items already shared monthly on Facebook,” says Stéphane Le Viet, CEO and founder of Work4 Labs.
